Rocky was the original guitarist for the band which became ZZ Top. As leader of The American Blues, they released two albums in the '60s on Karma and Uni Records. The trio (Rocky & Dusty Hill, Frank Beard) broke up, Dusty & Frank found Billy Gibbons and went on to fame and glory, Rocky never gained the level of success his talent merited. This album was recorded in 1977 with Lewis Stephens, Dahrell Norris and Dave Stanley (all then Delbert McClinton band members). This album was never released until 2012 and then only in Europe and only on CD. The songs by Townes Van Zandt, David Olney and Rocky with Doyle Bramhall, feature characters and stories of misfits and outlaws, painted vividly by the writers and embellished by some of the most incredible electric guitar work you are ever likely to hear.
